Established in 1979 as a Chinese Language School, the Chinese Community Center (CCC) today serves nearly 5,000 families each year through educational, cultural, and social service programs.

The Center is a nonprofit social services agency IRS 501(c)(3) organization. We receive funding and support from individuals, public and private sector sources and the United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast. The largest Asian-led social service agency in Texas, the Center received its first public funding in1989 and became a United Way of the Texas Gulf Coast agency in 1991.

The services at the CCC are diverse. The Center now serves the very young through the Child Development Program; youth through after-school tutorials, Summer Camp, and Chinese Language School; adults through the Adult Education Program that includes ESL, GED, job training and computer classes; and senior adults are assisted through Community Service, the Adult Day Program, and the employment program. We also have Financial Literacy and Family Literacy workshops and seminars.

To expand its life-enriching services, the Center initiated a Capacity Building Campaign in fall 2003. In May 2005, the Center successfully moved to its new home, a 57,000 sq.ft. facility on 5.7 acres of land in the heart of Southwest Houston next to Houston Chinatown.

Today, the Center offers its programs to the community at large. The Asian community’s willingness to share its culture and heritage, while accepting others, has enabled the Center to grow steadily. We thank the outstanding foundations, corporations and individuals in Houston and Harris and Fort Bend Counties for their belief in the Center and their generous contributions to our programs.
